I absolutely love this play day idea! Paper wings for kids to run around with, better than capes and certainly much prettier and magical!

Hayley Mitchell of Ruby Recycled creates adorable hand cut cards that peek through to a swatch of color. They’re made on eco cards too. I love the florals behind the horse!

Isabella’s Art has these whimsical and fairy tale laser cut paper shadow puppets and I love them! They take me right back to childhood and make me want to get out the flashlights and make a blanket fort!

Waiting for your garden to grow can be slow, so I like this idea from How Does She. Try making paper flowers lined with other plantable flower seeds and “plant” them in bare spots in your garden. By the time they decompose, the seeds will have dropped in the bed and started to grow as well!

I just stumbled upon another fabulous crafting blog by German artisan Annekata. Through traditional sewing and fabric arts, Annekata shares her interpretation of “slow design.” While her craft may take love and patience, she recently posted this fantastic fabric tape tutorial that actually looks quite quick and easy. What a great idea for transforming those pesky left over fabric scraps into a punchy decorative accessory! For the full tutorial, click here.

I really like this smart design concept aimed at making consumers more aware of the need for sustainability and wise use of our resources. Hemlock Printer, Frogfile Office Supplies and Grays Harbor Paper came up with a design for their 100% post consumer waster copy paper reams that featured a wrapper with origami: if you cut out and folded the wrapper, it formed a tree. If you stacked the reams, their wrapper designs formed a tree. And if you stacked the cardboard boxes used to store 10 packs, the graphics on their sides formed a tree trunk. I can picture offices with little forests of trees lined up from all the used paper reams and it’s an inspiring picture. Maybe each of us would think a second longer before printing out something unnecessarily with that little forest looking back at us!

I just came across this fabulous giant paper poppies decoration project at MarthaStewart.com. They would make a beautiful table accent for Mother’s Day brunch. Of course, I would also suggest using them as a fanciful gift topper as well. Grab the kids and let them join in on the fun! These poppies are super easy to make. However, the project does require using a hot glue gun, a good task to assign to the big kids in your house. Click here for the full tutorial.
