October is here and naturally, I have Halloween on my mind. I came across this cute glass jar and paper jack o’lantern tutorial at The Creative Place. It’s a great craft project for the kids and a good way to use up some of my paper and ribbon scraps! Click here for the full tutorial.

I came across this cool photo entitled “sticx” by Ginette Lapalme on the Of Paper and Things blog–one of my favorites. What a cool idea! I love how this concept gives a wooden stick (beautiful as it naturally is) a shock of color, transforming it into a cool decorative piece. This would be a great childrens craft idea for the younger ones as well!

This pop up nursery mural is so adorable! I love the idea of creating an interactive room for the little one to explore and using paper makes it even better! There are 8 animals on the mural the can be opened up.

The Modern Alphabet prints from Apple Blossom Print shop are adorable! They can be custom titled, which makes for a great baby shower gift. Or just add the numbers along the side instead of a name and it’s ready to display on your wall.

Remember making hand shadows as a kid? The pastime is so simple, but so magical. I delighted in the transformative power of light against my two bare hands. Today I came across this ‘Hand Made’ wall paper by Paper Boy and shadow puppet wall decals via Design Sponge, and they instantly brought back childhood memories. I would love to put these up in my own kids rooms! Sadly, I think they have outgrown the magic of shadow puppets!

As a self proclaimed paperphile, I have a really hard time discarding unused sheets of paper. There are so many ways to reuse them! I keep a scrap paper bin at home that I’m constantly pulling from. But, as these things go, at times that paper bin piles up pretty high. This Recycled Scrap Paper Notebook tutorial that I found on Design Sponge is the perfect way to reuse some of those old paper sheets. We make similar notebooks at my Soolip Tree house studio. These DIY notebooks are so cost effective and useful. They’re great for jotting down grocery lists or as drawing pads for the kids. Check out the entire tutorial here.
