Shantell Herndon-Kopelman has been a part of the childbearing community for more than six years. Besides being a mother of two boys, her experience includes acting as a doula, childbirth educator and maternity consultant, indigenous ritualist, owner and operator of a maternity spa and wellness center, executive director and nonprofit teacher and facilitator specializing in at-risk youth.
Shantell first began her work in the birthing business when she noticed that women were being encouraged to have highly medicalized births as a normalized aspect of the hospital system. She has chosen the path of helping to educate and advocate for families so that they know their options and their rights.
Her personal and professional approach to life is holistic, which takes a multitude of aspects under consideration: mind, body, spirit, individual self, society, culture and community.
