Dirt Under My Nails

I used to have a saying
" I want dirt under my nails."
To me this meant
Living life to its edge
Answering to no one
Risking it all
To find my bliss

Today I am a wife and mom
I have a mortgage
There is a station wagon parked in my driveway
The dirt under my nails is from the garden in my backyard
Each night I snuggle into the soft cocoon of my family
I have found my bliss
