Sponsor a Woman Survivor of War, and Change a Life

Women for Women International has empowered more than 153,000 women survivors of war to move toward economic self-sufficiency through their direct aid, rights education, job skills training, and small business development programs. They have called to action more than 125,000 women and men in 105 countries to support women survivors of war—one woman at a time.

Now you, too, can help support the women who are victims of the rape and violence that has reached epic proportions in the Democratic Republic of Congo. To find how you can sponsor a woman, visit www.womenforwomen.org.

Help Support Breastfeeding Moms this World Breastfeeding Week

As we celebrate the 2008 Olympics (August 8?24) and the 2008 World Breastfeeding Week (August 1?7), the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) calls for increased support for mothers striving to achieve the gold standard of infant feeding: to breastfeed their babies exclusively for the first six months, and continue breastfeeding together with feeding other appropriate complementary foods, for up to two years and beyond.

To find out more, access downloads, and learn about breastfeeding-promoting activities, visit www.worldbreastfeedingweek.org.

You can participate in the WABA torch run here: www.worldbreastfeedingweek.org/worldwide.htm

Help Insure America's Children

One Million Mothers Helping to Raise One Million Dollars—One Dollar at a Time

If one thousand mothers donate one dollar and then each passes this story to all the mothers she knows, and these mothers donate one dollar, and pass this effort to all the mothers they know, we will reach a million mothers, raise a million dollars, and have built a birth clinic one mother at a time.

Please visit the website of Yayasan Bumi Sehat to find out how midwife Robin Lim is offering care to pregnant women in an area of the world with one of the highest maternal mortality rates. To make a one dollar donation, please visit this website: www.amillionmothers.com/donation.html.

Help Insure America's Children

Even though the United States is among the wealthiest countries on earth, 9.4 million children are without health insurance. With 13 million children living in poverty, quality healthcare is out of reach. It's time America's leaders take a stand on the issue and insure our nation's children.

The Children's Defense Fund (CDF) is dedicated to helping protect America's children. Now you can write Members of Congress to ask them to also support a healthcare plan that covers all children.

You can sign the CDF's letter and find out more here: https://secure2.convio.net/cdf/site/Advocacy?...id=209"
