Dear Naomi, I am not very smart - I don't know much history, geography, science and I am not musical or artistic. Is it still possible or even wise to homeschool my children? Do you have any advice on how to "be smarter" for my children? Many thanks.
Dear Parent,
How wonderful!; you will get to learn with your child and accompany him on his quest for knowledge! Some children suffer from over educated parents who impose their knowledge on them and intimidate them by being so much more skillful than they are. You will get to join your child on his path, watch him grow and discover new areas you never knew about. You may need to find mentors among other parents, friends and family, or, at a more advance stage, hire teachers who can guide your child on a path of his choice.
You don’t have to be your child’s teacher. You only support his quest by finding resources and taking him to where he needs to be. In addition, in today’s worlds, with community colleges all around and the internet at your finger tips, the sky is the limit.
You are smart enough to know that your child is better off learning outside of school. Your child is lucky. To gain further understanding and confidence about growing without schooling you can purchase my 7 CD set, Trusting Our Children, Trusting Ourselves:
