Dear Naomi I have a three year old daughter and am keen to home/unschool when she is ready. I am happy to manage the usual concerns that friends and family have expressed about this, but should like some reassurance and/or tips for things to bear in mind because she is, and will be an only child. Am I letting the pressure get to me unnecessarily? Yours Emma
Dear Emma,
Yes, you are taking what other people say instead of trusting your child and yourself. You are also letting them get too involved.
Please listen to my 7 CD set, Trusting Our Children, Trusting Ourselves:http://naomialdort.com/audio-video.html which will answer most of your questions. You can then loan the set to your relatives if they are truly interested in learning and not in controlling your daughter’s path.
Listen to my MP3 on how to deal with relatives: http://naomialdort.com/mp3.html And, read my answer on the Mothering site on this subject: http://mothering.com/how-explain-conditioning-about-parenting
Warmly, Naomi Aldort, http://authenticparent.com/
