Nutrition During Pregnancy, Lactation, and Childhood; Infant Health and Bonding; Food Intolerance and Allergies; Infant Sleep
I have read so much about attachment parenting and feel I'm following its tenets as best I can. I'm breastfeeding with some formula supplementation during the day and cosleeping. I'm a working mother, and I want to know how my absence affects my son when he's at daycare. He is currently four-months-old.
When a mother is working away from home, cosleeping is an especially valuable way to catch up on lost time to connect. The benefits of attachment parenting practices can be seen in today's hormonal studies as well as in 50-year-old psychology studies. The suggested AP practices are concepts that work well for many families, with very positive outcomes. They are suggestions for any of us to think about and evaluate and see how they might fit in with our individual family's needs. Every family parents differently, even when following AP principles. There are many AP moms who work outside the home and still maintain strong connections to their children. I think the key is whether your son's daycare seems to be a good fit for him and whether he's gaining loving guidance that feels right to you.
